Penthouses a possibility in downtown Canandaigua

The long-vacant Labelon Corp. building on Chapin Street may have a new life, and a penthouse.

DHD Ventures, a Rochester developer that owns the 80,000-square-foot building just off Main Street near City Hall, is proposing to repurpose the former industrial building and add just over 40 market-rate, one- and two-bedroom apartments; a three-story townhouse; and some commercial office space.

The 10 penthouse units, which will also include patio space, will give the industrial warehouse building architectural distinction and embellish a nondescript building, said Kevin Kane, a consultant representing Canandaigua Crossroads LLC, a subsidiary of the Rochester developer.
